The cajepute is a natural tree from Australia. It is the same botanical genus of the tea tree, although its essential oil has a different chemical composition. However, oils very rich in 1,8-cineole can affect the central nervous system and cause respiratory problems in children, so its use at this stage is inadvisable. In addition to the antiseptic properties, cajepute essential oil has spasmolytic, anti-inflammatory activities, and may be useful in the case of colic or arthritic pain.
